Take Two

Alas, we have a Christmas Tree. We have a nice artificial tree, but since it takes several hours to unpack and assemble we opted for a real tree this year. We started to go to a tree farm in Manvel to select and cut down our own, but the lazy side of us took over so we went up the freeway to Houston Garden Centers. They had a nice selection of trees and they even tied it on top of our vehicle for us. We got it home shook of the loose needles and placed it in its new home in the corner of our den. The kids are so excited and I have to say I am too. Its been years since I have experienced the scent of a fresh Christmas tree. I usually have to burn the candles that smell like pine. Saturday night we headed over to the Dickinson Festival of Lights. Jeff and I have gone every year since we have lived here and it is so awesome. It is entirely volunteer based and it is free to attend. Saturday they had "snow" for the kids to play in.

The lights are so much fun to look at. There are tunnels to walk through and so many different themed lights. The kids can even decorate a cookie in the cookie shop.

The only complaint about the experience was the weather. It was a bit humid and it was in the 60's. It was a little hard to get in the Christmas spirit when you are warm. We still love going and will probably go several more times this year.
