Spring Break - a tad late.

Over spring break we went to Jellystone Park in Waller. It was really nice because it is only about 90 minutes from home. Since it was so close, Mimi and Papa came up for one night and Melinda and Richard came up for dinner, too. There was plenty for the kids to do including an outdoor movie screen, crafts, fishing and a heated water park. We brough the kids bikes with us so they just rode all around and met some friends.

We stayed in a cute little cabin that had a loft the kids claimed as their territory. The head clearance was only about 3 feet, so it really made them feel like they were in tree house or something.
They wouldn't let us up there unless we could come up with the secret password

They enjoyed staring out their window at the happenings outside

Theron didn't know the password so I sneeked him up for a peek

The weather was kind of cold (low of 40) at first, but we managed to find stuff to do to keep busy. The kids really enjoyed roasting marshmallows and hot dogs on the fire. Unfortunately there was a burn ban in effect so we had to use charcoal. They didn't notice.

And we had to get some fishing in, of course. Collin and Jeff did the majority of the fishing - Hunter and Meda were not that interested. There was a little lake that was stocked with bass and catfish. Jeff finally caught one after getting about 2 dozen worms stolen off his hook.

Theron can't wait to fish one day.

At the park they had these fun little recumbant bikes for the kids to ride. I rented each one of them a bike for an hour and they definately got my money's worth out of them. Hunter would not let Meda and Collin take a rest because he said that was wasting the bike. They all returned them an hour later and they were red faced and sweaty!

One of the days we took the drive up to Brenham with big plans of touring the Blue Bell Creamery. Unfortunately everyone else in Southeast Texas had the very same idea so we didn't do the tour. Instead we stopped and looked at the bluebonnets and had a nice lunch in Chappell Hill.

Theron was so sleepy on the drive to Brenham

The weather finally cleared up and we got to get some swimming in. The water park was heated, so although the temperature was around 70, with the sunshine it was very comfortable. Theron officially went swimming for the first time and he really enjoyed it. Hunter, Meda, and Collin went non-stop for several hours.

While we were at the water park (and Meda was half way up the slide)she lost her tooth! She was so excited that she got out of line and climbed all the way back down.
Jeff had to leave on Monday to go back to work, but the kids and I stayed until Wednesday. It was a nice little vacation and I would go back there again.
