The storm's over!

We got our power and phone service restored so I can finally get on here and post an update to everyone. Thanks so much for all the phone calls and emails checking on us. We were refugees for a few days, but we were very blessed to have places to stay until the storm passed through and our power was restored.

On Thursday Jeff and I took the kids and followed my dad to his friend Brad's house in East Texas. We still felt some of the effects of the storm there, but we were very prepared with a generator (a really fancy one) that kept us with power and A/C. On the way back to Houston on Sunday there wasn't a town that we passed through that had power (and therefore gasoline). We stayed with Dad on Sunday night since he has the same generator that his friend has. On Monday night we stayed with Melinda and Richard since they had power. Yesterday we were able to come home and sleep in our own beds.

We were very fortunate that the damage to our house was as minimal as it was. We had some shingles come off the roof, 3 trees down, fence blew down, water blew in around our door and windows (that was STRONG wind). One of the trees fell on the kids trampoline. But over all, we survived!!
